You have one week, one week without the terrible class schedules, the pressures of exams and the stresses of school projects.
You have one week to master the master cleanse, a total body detox to restore your body for a fresh start to spring quarter.
Cleanses are a means for the body to rid itself of toxins.
There are many different cleanses, but the most popular one and the only one tested and approved for more than 70 years is the Master Cleanse.
The Master Cleanse, commonly known as the lemonade diet, is a 10-day juice fast.
You are only allowed to consume a mixture of organic lemon juice, organic grade-B maple syrup and cayenne pepper combined into distilled water.
People start cleanses thinking they will lose 10 pounds and keep those pounds off, but realistically, it is impossible to keep the weight off unless the effort is put into keeping it off.
After a body is deprived of food, breaking the fast leads to gradual weight gain, not continuous weight loss.
This may seem obvious, but it is a common misconception for fasters.
I recommend this “diet” for those of you wanting to kick-start your summer body workout regimens.
It is a great way to drop weight fast, but it is by no means a diet with lasting results.
It helps purify the body and when the body is clean, you are more motivated to make healthier choices.
The Master Cleanse eases you into the detox with a three day processed food removal diet. The ease-in process requires you to consume a strictly raw food diet for three days.
Once the three days are through, the next phase of the diet begins with the lemonade cleanse. In the morning and evening, the cleanse calls for you to drink a detox tea or a saltwater flush.
The phase continues for 10 days and can be difficult in the beginning days, but the lemonade has enough nutrients and calories to keep the body running.
The third phase of the diet eases you out of the diet for three days by slowly consuming complex foods.
Like any diet, the Master Cleanse is not for everyone. There is a book full of information about the detox, including its benefits, called “The Complete Master Cleanse” by Tom Woloshyn.
If you live an active life, I suggest you eat raw foods with the lemonade just so you do not risk harming your body.
