Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and even a Dodge Viper lined up among other classic and sports cars on display during the third annual Tractor Car Show held Saturday at the Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch.
Guests arrived before 10 a.m. to view the showcased cars, tractors, engines and animals.
“It’s so much fun,” said Walt Berkley, a retired Pomona police officer who brought a replica of the 1956 Pontiac Chieftain police car. “My wife and I like to bring the oldie out to show people what police cars used to be.”
Berkley brought the car on behalf of the Pomona Police Officers’ Association, along with photos of the 1950s police squad and antique handcuffs and leg chains.
Children flocked to the petting zoo and frolicked with piglets, lambs and goats.
Volunteers sold small cups of pellets for the guests to feed the animals.
The animals were all birthed at Cal Poly, emphasizing the role of the Agricultural Department on campus.
Rico Rodriguez, a spunky 8-year-old, spent over an hour in the petting zoo feeding and petting the excitable animals at his feet.
Pony rides and face painting kept the children occupied while Carl’s Jr. provided food to the hungry crowd.
Cal Poly grown produce, including kettle corn, barbecue corn and smoothies, were also available to the guests.
The Cal Poly Jazz Band entertained the crowds with live music and a deejay spun classics from them ’50s and ’60s.
Tractors circled Kellogg Ranch as guests got to climb into them for a perfect photo opportunity and engines, the oldest dating back to 1911, were also on display.
Cal Poly’s Beef Cattle Show Team held perhaps the most interesting activity of the day.
Guests were able to purchase Bingo squares for what the team called “Cow Pie Bingo.” The squares were placed on the field and two cows walked around them. The cow droppings that landed on each square determined the Bingo.
With all of the activities, there was enough to keep everyone entertained.
