The Los Angeles County Fair is celebrating its 90th anniversary and Cal Poly Pomona is invited free of charge!

On Saturday, CPP students, faculty and staff will receive one free admission to the largest county fair in the United States.

Just last year, the L.A. County Fair hosted its second largest attendance ever, reaching 1,492,762 visitors.

Cal Poly Pomona Day at the Fair is part of Western U Days, a program giving free admission to selected Southern California college campuses throughout the duration of the Fair.

Free admission to the fun-filled L.A. County Fair for CPP students, faculty and staff is redeemable with a coupon, which can be found on the L.A. County Fair’s website, Polycentric or in The Poly Post.

Attendees must also have a valid Bronco ID or CPP business card.

Alumni can also attend Cal Poly Pomona Day at the L.A. County Fair for only $5 with a separate alumni specific printable coupon.

Broncos are encouraged to wear their green and gold and attend the CPP parade, led by University President Michael Ortiz and various student leaders.

Be on the lookout for appearances from Mr. and Miss CPP C.J. Heineke and Janine Watkins, Billy Bronco, Tony the Tiger and Associated Student, Inc. leaders.

Student performers will take the stage near the Blue Gate at 2 p.m. and CPP information booths will be set up near the Blue Gate as well until 4 p.m.

Shuttles will be running from campus to the fairgrounds from 10:30 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Students can be picked up at the CLA building to take the shuttle to the fairgrounds.

Guests can eat, shop and catch live performances during their visit to the Fair.

With more than 250 food booths, everyone is sure to find something to sink their teeth into.

As always, the L.A. County Fair offers a plethora of deep-fried foods, including frog legs, Oreo cookies, doughnuts and even Kool Aid.

Fair attendees can also chow down on foot-long corn dogs, large smoked turkey legs, cubes of french fries and funnel cakes.

Purchase an L.A. County souvenir cup to receive discounted prices for drinks.

Shopping booths are set up both in the middle of the Fair and inside buildings scattered throughout the fairgrounds.

Experience new product demonstrations, check out some new music and purchase a new outfit all in the same place.

With more than 600 shopping vendors, guests have plenty of shopping options to choose from.

One of the newest additions to the Fair is the “Genius - A Celebration of American Innovation” exhibit, where guests can see 8-foot iPhones in celebration of Apple genius, Steve Jobs.

For a full list of daily attractions and events, the L.A. County Fair offers a downloadable iPhone and Android mobile app.

The L.A. County Fair app also offers a map of the fairgrounds and allows users to “star” events they want to attend for the day, setting reminders to alert the user.

The mobile app also gives users the option of purchasing tickets to avoid long lines at the ticket boxes.

The Fair also features rides and games for the young and the young-at-heart.

Ticket cards and wrist bands are needed to play and ride.

Special discounts are offered at Walgreens and Costco as well.

For additional ticket pricing, promotions and discounts, visit the L.A. County Fair website.

The L.A. County Fair runs through Sept. 31.
