Broncos hold on to secure West Region Final Game berth

Cal Poly’s men’s basketball team pulled off a win in a thriller against top seed and host Western Washington University with a buzzer-beater by sophomore forward Dwayne Fells, who scored with 0.6 seconds left to end the game 76-75. The Broncos have today to rest, and will face Brigham Young University Hawaii in the West Region Final tomorrow at 7 p. Full story

Men's basketball team advances; women's season ends

Cal Poly’s men’s basketball team advanced to the next round of the NCAA Div. II West Regional finals yesterday with a 71-62 win over Dixie State. The Broncos play again today against top-seed host school Western Washington University in the West Region semifinal at 7 p. Full story

‘Top Chef’ visits Collins College

Bravo’s “Top Chef” season two winner Ilan Hall cooked up excitement on campus by hosting a demonstration and dinner last Sunday at the Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch. Although the 27-year-old New York native was classically trained at the Culinary Institute of America, Hall said his cooking reality show experience played a larger role in his culinary growth. Through all the crunchy, fried, bland and spicy foods I have tasted this quarter and last, I have learned more about my palette than ever before. Cal Poly’s track and field team records good results in Cal State Stanislaus

The rain cleared up just in time for Saturday’s track meet at Cal State Stanislaus in the Kim Duyst Invitational.  “It was a good meet,” said Coach Johnson.  “We are starting off pretty solid.” The meet was only the third to be held at the Cal State Stanislaus track enabling Cal Poly Track and Field to set some records. African Kings and Queens: Evolution of Black

The ninth annual African Kings and Queens: Evolution of Black honored prominent Black figures on Thursday in Ursa Major AB.   “The performers had a lot of enthusiasm,” said Chris Osuala, a third-year computer- engineering student.   The 38 students of Professor Toni-Mokjaetji Humber’s African American Contemporary Issues class and of the African American Student Center and Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department did reenactments of many historical figures that made an impact from the beginning of time to present day.
